Thoughts on Wonders Rebalance

There was an old good thread saying how useless all wonders are and I must admit that on the long run wonders become more interesting than they appeared to be at the beginning. But still a lot of them beg for some tweaks to make them awesome.

E.g. hanging gardens which could look useless in terms of generated resources and 2 free workers requirement appeared to be useful in combo with training blessing/mercs while we leave 2 free workers anyway on the long upgrades.

FC which generates useless food and does not prevent you from loosing a battle may save you quick star victory which may be equal to 7 medals and save you 30 mins of play to recover it at 3000+ Medals.

But there are still useless wonders and some tweaks would be also nice.

Pyramids, Tikal, Taj and eifel tower may need serious reworking. Those are wrong choices in any situation for any nation, any age or goals you have in the game. May be besides eifel tower which can be exploited on switch, but it should not count, but it should be fixed. The only option is to take those wonders for greek nation to have max game difficulty. Getting to the top-100 with these would earn you more respect than being no 1.

Hanging Gardens, notre dam, Colosseum, Versailles and Kremlin look like perfectly balanced wonders and AW too after they nerf healing generals %.

The rest is fine too, but they may need further balancing.
Acropolis could be much better if it had no range. It could be wrong to put all of your garrisons together, so it provokes you to do a wrong build. May be it needs the second power too?

Stonehendge just does not work at higher ages because of overall weak economy. Or at least it should provide much better buffs. It could work if economy worked though

FC is awesome, but its HP is too too low and also that food bonus... It would be much better if it just spawned extra defenders like TC.

BG is interesting wonder which hopefully will work after rebalance. Returning factory to training blessing would make it awesome.

SoL looks like wrong to me so far. I would rather have 20% faster air units cooking time than attack buff. And the second power could be shutting down air defences once a day or slowing down air units on defence.

So lets talk first about pyramids, tikal, taj and Eifel tower at first. What powers would make you want to have them?

The first problem is longevity. You want the wonders to be good enough to hold up/be worth the investment over time, but not be insanely OP when first built. The beginning wonders, like the pyramids, struggle with this. Call me crazy, but the only thing that would entice me to pick the pyramids would be if it converted farms into partial living quarters - providing 1 worker, per farm (house). I know that seems like much, but TBH there seems to be no incentive what so ever to have even built the farms/caravans to begin with... other than providing more entertainment for my attackers.

Pyramids is a joke from the beginning to the end.
Actually, that kremlins farm-power would fit to pyramids much better. May be it would be more fun it it could switch farms into gold production? Or a chance to get a trade good on each collect. Or an explosive farm so it explodes when destoryed ))) many of ways on how to make it useful. Adding workers is too OP, for sure, but keep on brainstorming ;)

The problem with changing wonders / nations around is it costs money then for people to fix what they changed and unless they give everyone a free change when they make edits on either type is it upsets the community as these two things are something that can ruin a gameplay faster for people more then anything else usually.

Adding the kremlin power, to the pyramids, would help. 50% increase in farm production, instead of 20%, and two attackers spawned from farms. Stipulation - Attackers come out BEFORE the farm is destroyed, and increase by one attacker, per farm, per age. Loot percentage could start at 20%, and increase 10% per age, up to a maximum of 50%.

1st all wonders with radius effect should be the size of the Coliseum's radius

Pyramids should have the Kremlin power of 2 defenders per farm upon destruction.

Acropolis remove range all together.

Stonehenge buff should be bigger and/or should apply to caravans as well.

Hanging Gardens allow you to harvest cider & metal with only 1 worker.

Coliseum, Notre Dame, Forbidden City, Terra Cotta Army all seem pretty balances to each other in power, so if you buff one of them, buff all as follows.

Coliseum make the Strength of Gladiators last twice as long, and increase HP of building

Notre Dame bonus should be 20% and building should be destroyable.

Forbidden City slight increase in HP, 1/2 the amount of defenders as TC, and works as TC for road bonus.

Terra Cotta Army the army comes alive on defense.

Yea, good suggestions Gambinus, especially HG one, what would make me want to switch to that wonder.

SH gives bonus to caravans, but kinda small. I forgot terracota, but its defensive buff is useless. May be it should give full mercs armies once a day and add like 20% to all structures HP besides walls.

Also, I like non destuctible notre dam. Why it should be removed? )))

like a bonus for taking it down? that's a cool idea. i just figured that all other wonders count as a building that must me destroyed to get the 100% star, so why should those that choose ND be shorted?

Some good ideas. FC is already powerful. Any base without it is almost always an easy win. Pyramids with Kremlin power would be too powerful, too soon. Spawning defenders at later ages is not as big of an advantage as it would have been earlier. On the same subject, colosseum was very powerful at earlier stages, but far inferior to FC now...

maybe Pyramids should only have 1 troop power city at the beginning, then around EA they get 2. would that balance it better at an early age?

for the Coliseum to keep up, and still be useful in late ages, the Strength of Gladiator should scale in strength and duration with each age. also, allows it to spawn an extra 1 or 2 defenders each age (I'm not talking more per wave, but overall more troop max)

I'll agree that the FC is pretty awesome as is, as it does a great job of denying the attacker that quick victory star. so maybe just have it give an additional economic boost, but if you're buffing wonders, why not think big?

so here are my ideas on how to buff the rest of the wonders.

Versailles increased radius and a slightly bigger buff 15-20%

Temple of Tikal big increase in the amount of stolen loot refunded 30-50%

Angor Wat is awesome and scales well with the increased amount of trade goods that you get. could buff up the healing amount for generals a little (undo nerf).

Taj Mahal needs big buff to loot 20-30% and have it add an extra merc unit space.

Effiel Tower have it generate a 12hr dove every 3 days and double vault capacity (or maybe a 3-4hr dove once a day)

Kremlin remove the farm defender bonus, and instead have it buff generals 20% (DPS & HP) and reduce general cooldown 40%. leave wall bonus as it is currently at 20%.

Brandenburg Gate make bonus apply to DPS & HP of factory units, and give it a 20% reduction in troop training time.

Statue of Liberty instead of the useless oil bonus, give it a blitzkrieg style bonus to shut down air defenses once a day. 20% bonus should be both DPS & HP for air units. also it should have a 20% reduction in training time.

if wonders got rebalanced in this way, i think all would be truly unique and it would be very difficult to pick the best one, as there would no longer be a best one for all players, and everyone could pick one that fit their playing style.

Yea, values may be a little bit too high for some useless wonders, but it still shows how far some of them are from being useful. Tikal is definitely wrong by 300-500% to even consider it as an option.

Designers usually may be wrong by up to 100%, but when they miss more like 200-500% (like with france too lol) - they did a bad job, no matter what funny pictures they post or whatever they write.

Now they are about change our gameplay to total close app. Sorry for offtopic )))
