This is my layout, i work towards defending my resources. Townhouse is outside to get easy shields. as people tend to throw in just a few attackers to take out the townhouse so they have a few medals. but for me it's some hours of save resources. I also got my walls locked in for my garrison/stable spawns. once they break a wall it has all camps spawned x 2 running towards them. still trying to decide if it's better then having doors in my walls.

This: i'd throw some 20-25 footies and have all your resources and have myself some medals to boast as well. Cost 5-10k, net gain is all your resources

You're right, it was absolutely the worst layout I made.

​You probably already noticed, but maybe it'll help other players, Garrisons need to have gates around them, otherwise the defenders can't get out to attack the enemy :p

I just made this. I think think the formation to cover my town center and a few resources is starting to have a shape. During these few days of playing I've been attacked only once and this formation held firmly. Surely I lost some resources, but the enemy had no chance to destroy my town center. What do you think? At that level doesn't really matter with medals if you ask me, and especially since you will probably fall in medals anyway from an attack comming from the left most side of the base. Let the Town Center hang free and cover those resources instead. Besides, you're Japanese, that towncenter will defend itself quite well

Personally, i'd make sure the catapult and one or two towers covered the mills/markets

Here's my latest, finally medieval age :)
Much better, however entry from the farms is still a bit too exposed, depending on how much food are available i would wait for your caravans to sit at farms and attack with 20 odd footies, and just enough at the town center. But only if you are a high value target.

Sorry to be an ass, but perhaps the worst build in this thread.

You leave the mills/markets defenseless while heavy defense is on the Town Center and production. When you attack you don't bother with the town center at all when the rest of the base is open. Neither buildings or forest work as walls, this build might as well just be wall-less.

Thanks for reply. Unfortunately Im not going to give my town center away that easily. It's symbolic meaning is too much for me, like the head of a snake. But I'll try to combine it's defensive capabilities in protecting my resources.

My new base hopefully will enable me to further protect both my town center and key buildings. It hasn't been tested by am attack yet and the lower left corner is something Im not completely happy with but hopefully this'll be a good base to keep on modifying city layout http://i.imgur.com/0B4aSW4.jpg

I'm trying to build what I'm calling "Wall Runs." The idea is to separate the resources as best as possible in sections which are also protected by other weapons. The logic here is that each time you have to bash through a wall - so if you have a wall miner, you only get into one section before having to get into the next one. I put both catapults in one, as this is certainly the first attack point if you're after a full victory. Also I separated out the town centre, logic there is an easy defeat for them means much harder for them to get resources, and you also are covered by catapults.

So far so good, this is holding up well. I've had 3 victories recently, which was rare in my previous designs which were all open in the middle of a surrounding wall. I figured once they got through the outside wall it was a free for all, now it's much harder to move.

When I get more walls, I'll either surround the catapults, or make another run.

Would be good to hear the logic behind designs when people post them - and how they go with getting more victories?
