I define p2w as a situation where a free player has zero access to helpful content paid players do have access to, which gives paid players a competitive edge. The estate was the first. Premium troop tactics like EA were next. Museum artifacts only offered for sale followed. Now we have pay-only rewards in the events system.

The game is pay to win. Free player starting now could never catch up. Free player using free tt can’t compete anywhere close to the top100.

my 2c.

Despite the recent, and not so recent, trends toward more pay only benefits, the game can still be quite enjoyable for a f2p player. I havent put any money in the game and am just a few levels from being able to go space age. I dont think "winning" (top alliance, top of individual leaderboard, however you could define it) is likely for any sane player (free or paid). Additionally, a player starting now would also never be able to catch up, free or paid. I wouldnt even want to know how much cash it would cost to max a space age base from scratch, walls/uni/museum included, at this point.

Its kind of annoying not having a reasonable chance to finish these recent events without paying, but there are certainly enough freely accessible TTs/event buildings etc to be a strong player in middling leages/alliances.

It's more like 'pay to advance quicker' if you combine tt's, special buildings, etc with extra production of resources.

I would agree except there are tons of examples of $$$ items not being available at all to free players. Estate, premium tt, pay only artifacts for war, now a scud launcher on top. It’s not pay to advance quicker it’s pay to win. A bad attacker with 4 vickers or rpg-tt can level a base way beyond a free player using troop chest tt.

You must think there's no-one interested in growing their base for the fun of it only people wanting to win battles and war. :D

It’s pay to win. The only people who think otherwise are cheating or lying about paying. It blows my mind how someone will p!ss away $2000 on a video game in one weekend then lie about it. After playing games like this for nearly a decade I can say YES they all lie. They are willing to waste their retirement for a momentary feel good “I’m the best”. Of course when people realize they spent 2 grand they say no your not good your stupid and you basically cheated. So they lie about the money. It’s all part of the mental illness.
Oh and yes the matrix glitch still works just fine I watched someone do it in person last week.

Not sure if this qualifies as the mic drop. I mean, it could, but the Leonidas war legendary from the previous event (the 2nd event, the one after Enigma's introduction) will go on sale soon. Now that one is insane. Unlike Da Vinci, it offers attributes unavailable from the museum (I forget what they are, but they are insane... such as more QV time, for example). In theory, a free-ish museum can overcome Da Vinci.

The reality is that BHG, like any business, has to make payroll. This is a great game even for free players, it may just take you longer to advance. Like I’ve mentioned in previous posts, this in my favorite game, in fact, the only game I play; I only have time for one game in my busy life. Lol. I don’t mind that they charge for some items, they need to make a profit folks, that’s how the world works. By making a profit, this game may be around for years to come...and that’s a good thing in my opinion.

On the Events: Of course they should charge a little something for the finer rewards and extra XP. Like I said in a previous post, every single event I’ve ever competed in had some sort of entry fee...from the Chicago Marathon to Juried Art competitions. Be grateful that you are allowed to compete and earn cool rewards for free.

Havng said all of the above, I hope they continue to work towards segregating the Leaderboards by Age. And I’d still like to see a Space Port on that little island. :)

Sure it does. The mic drop is as old as this p2w tactic. The point is they are selling overpowered artifacts that can only be purchased for the low low price of $100+ usd. You can hold 6 legendary artifacts. The game is not balanced. Free players no longer stand a chance while people with no skill can easily crush them

Like I’ve said before these tactics have continually driven their profits down not up. This is about bureaucrats thinking they can outsmart the player base. The game was making much more money when it had a large happy player base watching videos and spending money on quick advancement(sure people got there faster but in the end everyone had the same stats, it was fair and generated revenue without alienating the user base).

amazed the don't allow multiple estates. there's sure to be people buying more than 1. of course their pricing structure for their other items are so ridiculous so it doesn't seem like they fully know what they're doing

Pay 2 Advance: Crowns + Speedups.
Get high levels quickly and reach top of the game. With a functioning matchmaker, you'd match alliances with same avg levels - (skill only) wins.

Pay 2 Win: Premium TT and Museum.
Buying hundreds of cards such as (Vickers, Nightwitch, Humvee, Motor MG, Elephant Archers etc) for war.
Buying War Legendary Artifacts that you can only acquire through spending - or the rare case of paying then grinding 24/7 to get one through Event Pass.
If you match a f2p alliance of similar levels (or even considerably stronger), you'll simply perfect them as they watch and fail against your "hidden" OP War Museum modifiers.
If you match a similarly spending alliance - (skill + more spending) wins.

There's no doubt, Dominations is currently p2w.

Still, the game is a lot of fun to play even if very frustrating due to common long term bugs.

in my opinion the point is, what do you mean with the word "WIN"?

I win every battle if that's the case and spent approx 50 in 4 years to have 3 more citizens and 2000 crowns to speed up army building when there was not "free retrain". In this case I don't think it is a p2w game.
If your "WIN" is to be at the top of the scoreboard... at that stage, yes, it is a p2w game. But in this case what do you pretend? to have an audi RS6 at the same price of an audi A6?

As there are here lots of philosophers, who is complaining about the p2w approach is only frustrated because he would like, but cant spend 2000usd to be at the top and being mentioned by other players. This is unhealthy just like lying about the amount of money spent into the game.

Star trek, you can talk a lot but this game is pay2win. Compare to clash of clans, there you dont have heavy payed troopcards or heavy payed war legendaries. In that game there is no way to pay to get an uneven upperhand during war or a normal attack. Dominations even allows to bend the rules with legendaries that make the quick victory time longer...
