Revolution - British, German or any other nation

I have been saving crowns to revolt, as I don't think being Japanese will get me anywhere, now that I will jump to EA. There are two things for me to consider.

1. Wait with my revolution until a revolution event comes up and it costs only 300 crowns (I only have around 350 at the moment). How often do such events take place?
2. I like to attack, as often as I can to gain the loot I need for the many tasks ahead (upgrading, research, armory, walls etc). I usually have an army of 3 tanks (GA equivalent), 2 healers, 3 bombards and the rest archer equivalents. Work well if I can keep my group together usually. So, my question. Will my style suit the Germans with faster rallies or the stronger British archers.

Thanks for the advise ahead.

I think there has only ever been one discounted revolution, so either it was a mistake, never to be repeated or we are due one soon.

I have a Gunpowder second account, currently maxing it out and stopping there, EA onwards is a pain in the arse, and started it as German, not very impressed, so with the forthcoming revolution discount I'll switch to British*. As you noted, whatever nation you are, rifle/muskets are king.

* Unless British rifles get a negative buff pre-revolution discount event.

Oh I doubt Brits are getting nerfed anytime soon. After all the university was basically a buff to them with that Sejong damage and hp tech. I'd honestly hope they could toss the weaker nations a bone. Especially the Japanese, their TC should attack planes at the least cause their uniques are lackluster after medieval and their longer PTs are generally worse than Korea's refund since PTs are basically anti-activity in a game about being active to progress through raiding. It's a shame really cause their patina-like teal colour on their houses, temple, and TC is nice on the eyes. And they get those cherry trees, and chill little pond with their IA level temple.

actually I think university balanced against the brits, at leasts temporarily, much faster to upgrade mortars than sub machineguns, and with the new library faster mortar firing tech, I've seen a lot more brit rifllemen corpses scattered about my base....

hmm, this post is making me hungry :)

Germans are great for more advanced ages. In Gunpowder or lower the Vandal is similar to the Jap samurai guy - even though the Jap town is much prettier! So yeah - you can't go wrong with the brits at any age.

Although, if you like the look of a Jap base I can recommend the Koreans - still pretty and the Hwarang archers are badass !!!

I swapped from Japanese to Germans...Why?
The game is about attacking and not defending.
1. Peace treaties are USELESS. You obtain more attacking than from being attacked.
2. Bushis(Japanese) are identical to Vandals (Germans). Great for raiding from low level all the way through Gunpoweder. They mow things fast.
3. With "prebuffing" you are basically handing ALL of your units a 15% damage bonus. Soldiers, archers, cavalry, ballistas etc...
4. The faster and longer rally can help keep troops alive longer.

I debated closely with getting British, French and Koreans (1 extra tactic + archers) but decided I prefered a 15% bonus to all my units by prebuffing. Just find a base with external TC, send 3-4 vandals, rally on it and leave after 1 star victory. Your bonus is activated.

Doesn't seem to be an easy choice, which in fact, is a sign of good balancing. It would be sad if only one option would be viable. I like my rallies, maybe it's my style of play, but I always want to have more rallies. I tend to go for Germans (have to get yet another 250crowns)

Thanks for all the comments :)

Where did all your crowns disappear to?
I have around 1200 accumulated in-game so far.

Impatience

Rushing builds a little to get it done before .....(insert any reason)

Or optimising building/researching...For example a research/building might finish 2 hours after you go to sleep. This will mean about 8 hours lost time in getting something else done. So you just use some crowns to prevent idle time either in workers or research.
Or you need to raid fast to get to a certain gold/food amount to upgrade your stuffs and not keep too much to be attacked ;-)

One of the benefits of gunpowder being my 2nd account (main being Level 175 Global where just about everything takes 10 day+) is not rushing anything - I didn't even follow the tutorial instructions to speed things up with crowns.

Save them up for only things you can't get by waiting. On main account I've done a revolution and a couple of wonder changes. The only major speed-up was the global age TC upgrade - it takes 8 workers 10 days, I had the 7m gold so spent 1660 of accumulated crowns to get it done in an instant.

I only get attacked once a week in Gunpowder, not sure why, all mills/markets are outside the walls and as I write this have around 2m in each, and a full storehouse. I just make it look occupied when I log off - general in the castle, a few defence blessings.

Me too, ~4500. Only ever bought Starter Pack 1 with 1200 included. CS are a better source :)

Still a few more to come if I ever get to Dynasty and complete 1000 stars in WW.
And a gigantic (BHG version) 20 crowns if I ever loot 1bn.

If the 15% bonus includes planes then it is indeed a very solid bonus. Plus keep in mind that not only the rally is longer... but the cooldown is shorter before you can activate the next one. From a tactical standpoint of playing the game and ordering your troops around, the Germans seem by far the best choice.

Hard to look past Germans for that 15% buff but I do enjoy the loot bonus that British offers not to mention the buffed up rifleman (blackwatch) with extra range. May go German when I hit global and need to push for medals, right now the res is more important.
