DomiNations Update 12.12 - New Account Management System

DOM_SM_09_18_24_Update_12_12_AccountManagement.png

Greetings Leaders,

Our latest update is currently scheduled for an 11/6 release. With this release we’ll be implementing our new Account Management system, and outside a minor fix regarding Drone Directives, there are no additional changes within this update.

DomiNations World Accounts existed prior to this release (using an older technology). For the sake of clarity, in the following notes, we will refer to NEW DomiNations World Accounts (created post patch 12.12—powered by Xsolla's Login technology) as 'Full DomiNations World Accounts' to differentiate them from OLD DomiNations World Accounts (created pre-patch 12.12).

The New DomiNations World Login system will help organize multiple bases and make starting new bases easier. To ensure a smooth transition we asked that you prepare yourself by linking all of your accounts to DomiNations World. If you’ve not done so already we’re here to help! You should be able to find the instructions that apply to your situation below!

When the update goes live, you'll see this screen regardless of whether you already have an Old DomiNations World account.

Screenshot_20241025-152419_DomiNations.jpg

You can tap ‘Learn More!’ and feel free to visit the page and learn more about DomiNations World, how account linking works, and more if this is available in your region.

Otherwise, you’ll tap ‘I Understand’ and see the new Account Login Screen! Here you can log into an existing Old DomiNations World Account (turning it into a Full DomiNations World Account), create a Full DomiNations World Account (you will be taken to account creation if the credentials you put in are not linked to an account yet), or skip the login and Full DomiNations World Account creation process.

Screenshot_20241025-152434_DomiNations.jpg

Will all players get a new Full DomiNations World Account the first time they log into DomMobile?

No. If players choose to “Skip” Full DomiNations World Account creation, they will have a Guest DomiNations World Account with limited functionality.

  • You will not be able to log into DomiNations World with a Guest DomiNations World Account
  • You will not be able to log into other devices with a Guest DomiNations World Account

Screenshot_20241025-152446_DomiNations.jpg

If you have not registered your account on DomiNationsWorld.com or don’t wish to set up multiple accounts, hit the ‘skip button’ when the login screen pops up.

This will create a ‘Guest Account’ and load the last base played on the device.

Note: Players who do not create a Full DomiNations World Account run the risk of losing their account and the bases associated with that ‘Guest Account’ if the player loses access to the device. BHG highly recommends that players create a Full DomiNations World Account!

You can always opt to turn your ‘Guest Account’ into a full account at any point during regular play to avoid any possible loss of progress.
Screenshot_20241025-152434_DomiNations.jpg

1) Hit the settings button on the right side of the screen.
SettingsButton Screenshot.png
2) Tap ‘Manage Account’
ManageAccountButton_Screenshot.png
3) You’ll come to a screen that shows the account you’re playing, ‘Guest Account’ will be in the upper right corner of this menu, and ‘Log in’ will be on the bottom right. Tap ‘Log In’
Screenshot_20241025-152626_DomiNations.jpg
4) You’ll return to the ‘Log-in’ Screen, where you can create a Full DomiNations World account or log in with an existing Full DomiNations World Account.

If you don't skip Login this time, and instead Log in to a Full DomiNations World Account, then the base you were on– and any other bases you could see in the Account Management Page while you were playing under the ‘Guest Account’-- will be moved into this new Full DomiNations World Account.

Note: BHG highly recommends that players use the same username and password to create a Full DomiNations World Account that they previously used on Old DomiNations World Accounts. While not required, using the same email address will make things far easier for you in future steps.
Screenshot_20241025-152434_DomiNations.jpg
4_a) If you open DomiNations on Mobile and create a Full DomiNations World Account you’ll see your linked bases.

Note: If you try logging into Dom World using your old DW credentials (ex. player@gmail.com), after you’ve created a Full DomiNations World Account on Dom Mobile with different credentials (ex. player@yahoo.com), your bases will have already been reassigned to the new credentials used on Dom Mobile (player@yahoo.com) and you will be shown a message that this base has been assigned to those new credentials (player@yahoo.com).
DOM_XsollaLogin_AccountActive2.png

4_b) If you try to log into DomiNations World with your new Full DomiNations World Account credentials from Dom Mobile (player@yahoo.com), you will be able to log in as expected.

4_c) If you get a new device and create a Full DomiNations World Account with a different email (ex. player@aol.com), you will get a new base NOT associated with any existing Full DomiNations World Accounts.
To access bases from your old device, you will need to log into your Full DomiNations World Account (player@yahoo.com).

If you don’t remember your Full DomiNations World Account credentials (player@yahoo.com), you will need to follow the forgot password flow to log into the Full DomiNations World Account your bases are attached to (player@yahoo.com).

4_d) Your bases that were linked in your Old DomiNations World Account prior to the release of the new Account Management System will all be associated with the New DomiNations World Account created when you log into a device that is associated with one of those bases after the new Account Management System goes live.

If you linked your accounts on DomiNations World before the release of the new Account Management system, you will NOT need to log into any other iOS or Android accounts.

If you linked your accounts on DomiNations World prior to the new Account Management System release (player@yahoo.com), then after the update is released, if the player chooses to skip the login process on DomiNations Mobile, they will not be able to do so and will be prompted with “Please login with your DomiNations World credentials” to create a New DomiNations World Account due to your other accounts already being associated with an Old DomiNations World account (player@yahoo.com)

If you choose to log in with ‘Sign-in with Apple’ or ‘Google Authentication,’ as long as the Full DomiNations World Account email is the same as your Old DomiNations World Account email then linkage will happen for DomiNations World players that have previously linked accounts.

Will all DomiNations World users get a Full DomiNations World Account the first time they log into DomiNations World after the Account Management update goes live?

Yes. If a player logs into DomiNations World with their existing credentials after the Account Management update goes live, then a Full DomiNations World Account will be created with those same credentials. Any pre-linked DomiNations accounts will be maintained.

From the Log In window, you’ll want to log in with the same email credentials as your Old DomiNations World account (if available in your region.) Tap the button that says ‘Continue with Email.’ (1)

This will create what we’ll call your ‘Primary Account.’ You’ll load into the last base that was logged in on the device.
Screenshot_20241025-152434_DomiNations.jpg

1) Tap the ‘settings’ button on the right side of the screen.
SettingsButton Screenshot.png
2) Then tap ‘Manage Account’ to find a list of all the other Accounts linked to your Full DomiNations World account!
ManageAccountButton_Screenshot.png

DOM_XsollaLogin_AccountActive2.png
3) You can switch to a different base from this window. Tap the select button next to the Base you wish to change to.
DOM_XsollaLogin_SwitchBase1.png

Confirm that you’d like to switch to the Base you’ve selected. The game will then reload and open this base.

Yes. However, all bases will need to be manually linked by logging into those individual TOY, iOS or Android accounts, in your device settings, while remaining logged into your Full DomiNations World Account. You will only be able to do this after the New Account Management update goes live (similar to the way you manage multiple accounts now.)

Here’s how:

1) After setting up your Full DomiNations World Account, to add additional accounts you’ll need to go to your chosen platform’s settings.
DOM_XsollaLogin_AccountAppearance_4k.png

2)Close the game completely and switch your Google Play or Apple ID log-in (or your device/region’s preferred Game Account) before reopening DomiNations.

You will need to follow these steps based on the platform your DomiNations Account was created with:

To switch DomiNations accounts on Android using Google play.

First, navigate to the Google Play store:
Screenshot_20241018-160416_Google Play Store.jpg
Next, open the profile menu in the top right corner of the screen:
Screenshot_20241018-160426_Google Play Store.jpg
Press the Manage your Google Account Button
Screenshot_20241018-160445_Google Play services.jpg
On the Google Account screen, select the dropdown menu next to the account name. Then select Manage accounts on this device.
Screenshot_20241018-160507_Settings.jpg
Select the add account button and add a different account to Google Play.

Be sure to remove the previous google accounts from the list.

Going back into DomiNations the game will recognize the Google Account change and load the associated Base.
Screenshot_20241018-160606_Settings.jpg

To switch your Dominations account on iOS, navigate to Game Center in the settings app.
IMG_2629.PNG
Sign out of the Game Center account and sign into a new Game Center account.

Load back into Dominations and you will be given an option to load into the base associated with the new GameCenter ID.
IMG_2630.PNG

For Toy accounts (and by extension Samsung accounts because they also use Toy) Players do not even need to leave DomiNations to switch accounts.

In the top left, underneath the Sound Effects button, press the button that says Logout.
Screenshot_20241018-170114_DomiNations for Samsung.jpg
Now when pressing the login button players can choose how they want to log in using Toy:
Screenshot_20241018-164159_SamsungDev.jpg

3) After switching your preferred Platform’s Account, jump back into DomiNations and the game will load that Platform Account’s Base.

4)
To confirm that this was done correctly, after your base loads, go to the settings menu and open ‘Manage Account.’

Here, you should find a list of bases that have logged in with this new method: the one from your first login and the one you’re on now (or any additional bases if you’ve repeated this process from the beginning of this section)

No. All non-Samsung TOY bases will need to be manually linked by logging into those TOY accounts while using the same New DomiNations World Account credentials after the Account Management update goes live.

Here’s How:

1) To do so create your Full DomiNations World Account when the update goes live.
Screenshot_20241025-152434_DomiNations.jpg

1_a) If you create a Full DomiNations World Account, you will need to log into each TOY account that you want associated with your Full DomiNations World Account in order to link under one account. Logging into a TOY account after logging into the Full DomiNations World Account will automatically link the TOY accounts to the Full DomiNations World Account. (See section above “Will players who do not link their accounts before the release of Account Management Update be able to do so?)

You can log into different TOY accounts on the same device. If you use separate devices for other TOY accounts, you will need to log into your Full DomiNations World Account in order to link those TOY accounts.

1_b) Remember, if you choose to ‘Skip’ the login process, and create a Guest Account, you must use the same device in order to link additional TOY accounts.

A Guest DomiNations World Account can be upgraded to a Full DomiNations World Account at any time. When you choose to upgrade to a Full DomiNations World Account, all linked TOY accounts will be migrated. Guest DomiNations World Accounts cannot log into DomiNations World.

1_c) If a TOY player chooses to 'Skip' the new Login process after the Account Management System update is released, they will have created a Guest Account, and their TOY account will be linked to it.

If a TOY player completes the new Login process (doesn't skip this step), they will have created a Full DomiNations World Account, and their TOY account will be linked to it.

1_d) Samsung TOY players are able to link their DomiNations World accounts in advance if DomiNations World is available in your region.

Additional Questions

Can players still link their accounts on DW after the Account Management Update goes live?
No. That functionality will be removed after the Account Management Update goes live. Any existing bases will need to be linked in the Dom Mobile app. You can, however, still switch between your bases and play them on the web version of DomiNations.

Will players be able to link existing accounts in the Web version of Dominations?
No. Players can only link accounts via the DomiNations Mobile app after the Account Management System update goes live. Account linking will no longer be available on the DomiNations World website. Players will not be able to link other accounts (accounts found via TOY, Google Play, or GameCenter) via Dominations on the Web.

You can create new accounts via DomiNations World when playing through the browser. Once created, these new accounts will also be available on your DomiNations Mobile account, provided they are logged into the same Full DomiNations World Account on the Web and Mobile.

If I “Skip” the Full DomiNations World Account creation step, will I be able to link my accounts later?

Yes. However, a Guest DomiNations World Account will be created by skipping the Full DomiNations World Account creation step. Players who have pre-linked their accounts on DomiNations World will be prompted to create a Full DomiNations World Account.

Players who do not create a Full DomiNations World Account risk losing their account and the base/account associated with that Guest DomiNations World Account if they lose access to the device. BHG highly recommends that players create a Full DomiNations World Account.

If I log into DomiNations on Mobile for the first time after the Account Management Update has gone live and use credentials (e.g., player@yahoo.com) that DO NOT match the credentials I used to log into Old DomiNations World previously (e.g., player@gmail.com), will my accounts still be linked?
Yes. The accounts will still be linked to the Full DomiNations World Account for all pre-linked accounts but the player must use the new credentials on DomiNations World to log in (player@yahoo.com).

If I log into DomiNations World with my old DomiNations World credentials (e.g., player@gmail.com) AFTER creating a Full DomiNations World Account on the mobile version of DomiNations with a new set of credentials (e.g., player@yahoo.com), what happens?
You will receive an error message that new credentials were established on the Mobile version of DomiNations and will be required to login via those new credentials.

How many Full DomiNations World accounts do I need to create to access multiple bases?
One. Players will have the ability to link all their previous accounts (iOS, Android, or TOY) into a single Full DomiNations World Account that allows them to switch bases directly in the game or from the account selection on DomiNations World!

When creating a Full DomiNations World Account for the first time, make sure to use your existing Old DomiNations World credentials for the most seamless transition.

A single Guest DomiNations World Account can be used to switch between multiple bases, although, you must upgrade to a Full DomiNations World Account before having access to all of your bases.

What happens if I log into DomiNations World before DomiNations on Mobile after the update?
If a player logs into DomiNations World after the release of the Account Management Update using their old credentials, a Full DomiNations World Account will be created. This only happens if you have never logged into DomiNations Mobile since the update.

If you have any other questions, or find that you need help ensuring all your old accounts are linked to your Full DomiNations World Account, feel free to contact our CS Team either here or via email at support@bighugegames.com. We do ask for your patience when it comes to response times as we’re expecting a higher than normal volume of tickets requesting assistance.

Additional Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where some players would experience a Network Disconnect when attempting to finish a Drone Directive Upgrade instantly with crowns.

First of all, I would like to thank mduffor again. Your quick responses and comprehensive service have made the last few days bearable.

But now that the update is here, I also have some criticism too. You have tried to reinvent the wheel, but instead of making it round, it has become a Pentagon.
  • the overview of linked cities is a pain when you have 9 automation ages. White names on a light beige background is a shitty contrast. Instead of the huge XVII, customizable profile pictures would be better (like google play games (GPG) already offers)
  • the display of the currently used domworld account is lousy. All accounts have the same unchangeable profile picture of Joan. This makes them indistinguishable and the picture is pointless. The space for the email is much too small. The address is cut off before the @, making it impossible to distinguish between different domworld accounts.

  • GPG is not perfect, but the decision to use xsolla was stupid. 8 of the first 10 search engine hits are negative customer reports in various forums.
  • the new login leads to errors when cities connected to both GPG and xsolla. e.g. I have a device on which only one city existed. After the update I pressed skip and ended up in the age of dawn. Why? The correct city was already in cache, so we really could have skipped the login. Instead of loading the old city with the corresponding GPG symbol, nothing happened. Or maybe my city connected to GPG was overwritten? Two weeks ago you could just skip the GPG login and get to the last city. Why are you ruining this well-functioning system?
  • The change of xsolla accounts leads to even more pain than the GPG login of the last months. Why so complicated? Why re-enter the password every time? GPG has a great system; the accounts are registered once on the device and are then available with a single tap.
The constant retyping is extremely annoying and leads to the use of weaker passwords. This means that xsolla reduces security. A real shame.
  • The Google login to xsolla is not an adequate alternative. Why? Because Google especially introduced player IDs as a level of abstraction between Google account and game provider. This concept is undermined by the use of Google login. You are therefore sabotaging the privacy that GPG wants to offer its users.

So some things urgently need to be improved

I created an account in DominationsWorld but when I try to log in with Google it gives me an error, I try to use the Gmail and password and it tells me "invalid characters". Excellent service.

Does this button delete the connection from city to domworld account, so that I can use a guest account and load the city again via gpg? Or does the button completely destroy my city?

Agreed about the text color; I've reported it to the art team.

The portrait of Joan is a placeholder, and we want to add the ability to choose a portrait. That feature just hasn't risen high enough on the priority list yet to be implemented. The same goes for the age icons mentioned above.

There are several reasons we went in the direction we did. First, we needed an Authentication system that worked across Android, iOS, websites, and server-to-server. Many systems can fit one or two of those requirements, but not all of them. GPG is Android only. Google Login is often actively avoided by Apple users. Also we are required by Apple's rules to include Sign In With Apple (SIWA) if we have any other 3rd party sign in for our app. So we had to come up with a cross-platform solution. Also because Big Huge Games is no longer owned by Nexon, TOY login for all of the Asia users is going away and we have to migrate users to a new system by the end of the year.

No solution is perfect, but we are dedicated to making this one work as smoothly as we can. (Though I realize that statement is a bit ironic given some of the bumps we've hit this past week)

If you hit "skip", it is supposed to load in the city that is in the cache. Please reach out to CS so they can track down what happened. When you hit Skip, it creates a device-id linked account (Guest Account) that can only be played on that device. If you are seeing a Dawn Age city, then your original account is probably still linked to GPG.
  • The change of xsolla accounts leads to even more pain than the GPG login of the last months. Why so complicated? Why re-enter the password every time? GPG has a great system; the accounts are registered once on the device and are then available with a single tap.

The goal is to link all of your bases to a single DomiNationsWorld login, at which point you can switch among them from the settings menu without having to re-enter any login credentials. That should make base switching easier overall, not more difficult.
  • The Google login to xsolla is not an adequate alternative. Why? Because Google especially introduced player IDs as a level of abstraction between Google account and game provider. This concept is undermined by the use of Google login. You are therefore sabotaging the privacy that GPG wants to offer its users.
We take privacy seriously, which is why we only store encrypted versions of login credentials and don't share things like the DomiNationsWorld display name or ID with others. However by requiring the user to have a functioning email address that they have access to (or a Google or Apple account they have access to), we can better guard against cheating and attempted stealing of accounts. It also makes password reset a lot easier and more secure.

That said, your concerns are noted and I will bring them up with the team.
So some things urgently need to be improved
We will continue to improve the system to make it work more smoothly for all of you.

Thank you for the detailed answers

That's a nice idea, but it doesn't correspond to my reality.
  1. I would like to see what is happening in my child's accounts from time to time. Previously, I had his Google account on my devices and could switch. However, the child does not have my Google accounts. If we now have to move this to DW, then I need a DW account for my child and one for me. If we combine everything into one DW account, then my child would get too much access. And I need to be able to switch regularly.
  2. I occasionally create new accounts that never last long. I need this, for example, to remember the beginnings when I want to advise new players. Or if I want to see how time consuming parliamentary donations are in a certain era. As soon as I have the information I'm looking for, the account becomes obsolete and deprecates. I don't need to integrate such an account into my main DW account, because otherwise the list will become endlessly long over time. So now I need a disposable DW account, or a DW account where I can collect the disposable cities. This also requires a regular change of DW accounts.

I need help. I mistakenly created two guest profiles on two different devices. My desire is to destroy one of them so that I can unify all my accounts into a single profile. What can I do?

I like the fact that you communicate a lot with the community and you offer very precise facts to support your decisions.
On another note, out of curiosity, may I ask who owns BHG now? Is it LTG or you operate on your own?

Yes, we are under the LTG (Long Tale Games) umbrella now.

Hi all

I bet more and more players are now able to access their accounts using the new system, which to be honnest have some nice advantages.

It may be the time to raise the question - what about those days players could not access their accounts ?

Part of the issue is,
They could not assign workers
They could not use their temp buildings in wars
Worse, they may have missed war attacks making their alliance fail ...

Will those players receive a compensation? If difficult to identify, maybe at least a global one ?

Regards

More than week has passed and support still can't change email in dominationsworld (from hidden one to real one) but persistently want to help me with login but I didn't mention in any of my message that i have problem with login.
Are there bots working in support? or how to explain such automation process in CS? they respond only with templates and no real help at all :((
@mduffor @Harlems369th

I tried to explain my question to CS but I either failed miserably or i am talking to a bot.

Pls help @Harlems369th or @mduffor

Up to now i was using google login to load my base through gmail. Now I changed the setting at google play games "Not to ask each time" but load my main gmail and I am chaging bases through the new way of Dominations world .

My questin is simple: are my bases synchronizing with gmail now?

Once you are on the new login system with a DomiNations World account, you will switch bases via the Settings menu under the "Manage Account" button. You will not be required to change your Google/GMail login or switch via the Google Play Games app anymore. Once attached to the DomiNations World account, the GPG login will no longer be looked at for choosing the base.

We understand this is a change from what you are used to, but it should be a smoother workflow going fowards

Our alliance has lost nine High-Quality- Accounts in two days because of can not log-in. Thx. They are not in mood to try again, nevermore.

I'm sorry to hear that they had login difficulties. Some of the more complicated setups that were using social logins in ways they were never intended to be used have had a bumpy transition, and we are working as quickly as we can to everyone who reaches out to us to resolve their issues. Our moving to a new authentication system was forced by other external services we relied upon being shut down.

yes i understand that but does that mean that my progress (across all 3 accounts) is being saved only to BHG servers or is it saved at google too through google play?

Even if we previously used google play to log in, this does not mean that our progress was on google servers. This may be the case, but it is not necessary. GPG can also be used only to identify you via a player id and to download the appropriate village from the bhg server.
Correct. Progress has always been on BHG servers. Google Play Games, Google sign in, Sign In With Apple (SIWA), GameCenter, TOY, email + password, and now Xsolla Login only give us identifiers (a number or a unique randomly generated string) as to who is playing. For some of the services like Google Play Games we send back progress reports that can be used in their Achievements system, but the actual record of progress is always on our servers.

This is a fail. I cannot log into my Apple Account or my Android accounts directly anymore It seems only the Dominations World works and no further linking is possible (have tried from iPad, Android IPad and Dominations World on a laptop). If I Continue with Apple or Continue with Gmail, I just get a brand new blank game.

BHG Finance will love this. With this and Asia (TOY?) being cut off who knows how many millions of revenue have been lost.

I am happy to eat crow if I am missing something but my original logins are not working.

I will spend $ on this game again when I can log into my accounts directly.

Other unpleasant side effects of the new login are:
  • If you use the logout on one device, you will be logged out of all devices. This is annoying. For example, I have 3 devices on which I use nobody_dw1@example.com. Now I want to check my child's chat on one device and press logout to switch to nobody_child@example.com. A short time later, I switch back to my accounts. That's already 2 annoying password entries, because an unnecessary refresh means that passwords saved by google cannot be used automatically. In addition, I am now also logged out of my other devices, although I did not choose to log out there. This requires further unnecessary password entries.
At this point, session management such as that offered by google or WhatsApp is much better. You can see a list of the devices on which you are logged in and can log out on individual devices or end the session remotely, e.g. if the device is unknown. But logging out on one device does not lead to logouts on other devices.
