Hi all, I am a level 278 CWA player and to this day, I can’t make good use of the Bomber air troop. I have her fully researched and upgraded so as one would assume, she should be some what useful. Sam Batteries upgraded to a reasonable level can still one shot destroy a full HP Bomber unit. Has anyone found a strategy where they shine? Something I may have missed.

King Cally, use a plane first to set off the sams, followed by bombers.

Yeah me too wondering. Since first time I was introduced to air units, it was the fighter that stood out so fighter it be, I never use bombers anymore.
High level archer towers could also hurt bombers I think.
This unit deserves to be rebalanced in a positive way.
How about more damage to Town Center.

Bombers are best in a combo, as king miller said.
Set the bomber on its run THEN immediately send 1 or 2 planes to the same location or to towers nearby. The faster planes will get there first and take whatever hits they can, leaving the bomber to destroy targets unmolested. Thats the plan.

I’ve been using that strategy with mixed results. It just feels strange sacrificing the fighter considering they, themselves are not expendable. And it’s “her” because in aviation, aircraft are always female .

think of it like this. if the base has poorly upgraded SAMs, escort fighters will survive the battle even if they are sent in as sacrifice. if the base has maxed SAMs, not losing anything is not an option. you are going to have to lose something, and you have 3 fighters but only 1 bomber to lose.

Losing something is not a given.
The trick is to have all planes/bomber hit the target area around the same time, give the defences multiple targets to choose. Sure its trickier than it sounds but thats the idea.
Also a bomber is a strategic troop. If you want to use it all through the battle then yes, you probably will lose it or some planes.

What do you guys prefer to bomb the base at first?
1. Missile silo
2. Defense tower buildings
3. Defender producing buildings

Also how about using 2 bombers (and 1 fighter). They should quickly destroy surrounding areas and clear the ways for main troops? (I never tried this, I saw someone did this but she used many attack helicopters, should have used ground troops instead?! Got 100% destruction but not Quick Victory, both bombers survived the battle)​​​​​​

Two bombers and 7 Sabotage tactics might be worth looking into. When I use the bomber troop, I often divide my army between 2 heavy tanks and deploy my fragile units elsewhere. Sending a bomber over a well defended silo is a recipe for disaster. I can get away with sending 5 fighters over a silo, however. That’s why I often find myself questioning it’s usefulness.

Bombers are strategic, to be used selectively. Use them and planes for deep strikes on mortars, for example. Then your troops should have an easier path through the base. Leave other towers to your ground troops. Or use planes/bomber again as needed.
Don't forget about the bomber/Sabotage combo, this saves your planes for other duties.
For me its always the silo first, my troops take care f the rest. 4 of my CW planes take out most silos, otherwise I'll use 5.
I haven't used a plane/bomber combo since global, I've found 4/5 planes used properly gets better results.
The trick, whichever combo, is to use them in groups. Send out 1 at a time and all towers in the area will shoot at it. Give the towers multiple targets to focus on.

I like using the Bomber, but I do tend to only deploy it around the edges of the map. It invariably gets killed going into the center.

The thing is any strategy involving bombers is more of a hassle compared to strategy with all fighters!
Don't forget, if you send both fighters and bombers together, there's a chance one of them will appear from the wrong side of the map

In mp I like to use transport + 1 fighter. I am british and I use 1 HT with 6 bazookas, 2 supply trucks 5 howies and the rest riflemen. I like transport with this because the paratroopers can protect my high dps troops. I'm global age lvl 170 and I have just recently upgraded to bomber mk1, I've been trying bomber out a bit more and I think if the bomber is used effectively it can really make a big impact, especially with sabotages as you can take out key targets. I did well with it on lower level bases (industrial 120 - 140ish) but against global bases I'm not so good at making it survive for long. With transport I can raid bases higher than me and have high survival rate thanks to the paratroopers. Transport and 1 fighter is also quicker and cheaper to train than 4 fighters or 1 bomber and 2 fighters

I agree about the bombers not really having a good place in the current meta. The same with paratroopers: Even if they made them a little bit better, isn't having 5 planes worth more because of the flexibility they provide? They're fast, you have 5, you can give different targets, they suppress, have good hitpoints, can wipe out troops easily, etc.

Fully upgraded paratroopers are a BEAST (between the university and the library, plus however many godawful upgrades in the Armory). But even still, do I need more ground troops blowing stuff up? Not really. I'd rather have 5 planes that are quick to react rather than a slow-moving bomber or transport.
