The Great Resource Shortage of 2016

It finally makes sense, there is no popular demand for the caravans and farms event to produce 2X faster, it's because there is a HUGE shortage of available resources now because of Global upgrades. When you spend resources on upgrades it goes back to Nexon and it is taken out of multiplayer circulation. There for the only way Nexon can get it back into circulation is through caravans and farms...

I think that this "popular demand" should be a cue that the resource generation on this game is too low, pushing the players to raiding. The investiment of upgrading your economy is so unworthy that one should consider upping the farms and caravans when there is nothing else better to do or when you want to play passively without guarding large quantities of resources.

In Clash of Clans, if all your economic complexes are up-to-date, you can make up your losses naturally from a devastating 100% attack, while in this game you must give the stick on someone else multiple times to reach back the previous amount of resources, meaning that you are always at a handicap if you dont play like a addicted warlord or pay real life currency. While I fully understand that with a always-recessive economy the players will be pushed to spend more time attacking each other (and therefore playing more or turning to IAP), this mechanic also limits the gameplay, making just one on-rail, formulaic "right way" to play it instead of leaving to the players the decisions to go as they wish. Strategy games should be about having freedon to make decisions on how to conduct situations, not following the one-way-only guide.

My guess is overall available food and gold in the game is down from players upgrading new toys in global, hence the extension of the 2x farm and caravan output.

You get my vote. This company is utterly clueless, how they have sales in the $$billions is a mystery.

Situation is terrible, I foresaw this coming when I saw Global prices, you were all so excited here discussing, "wow, but, have you seen the new tank?? It is bigger and it has a new pic!..."

So I don't wanted to ruin your euphoria. Now that you have realized the truth about it, let's face it, game situation is terrible in terms of prices and economy.

As it has been said, if passive income were 2x bigger, it won't be crazy at all. Also food economy is a disaster, being it useless, and I don't know if ever the problem of generals upgrading in army instead of fortress will be adressed...

Instead, in 6 month, you will get another Age, with mental prices again, but at the beginning you will all just buy the Nexon candy "wow, but, have you seen?? It's atomic age... And we have atomic planes!! Who would have said it!! And the tank it's now bigger, and has a new pic!!!" , no one will care about it until start feeling its effects, and the ones pointing to it, we will be called killjoys and too serious...

And the Clash of Clans comparation a person made in the first post, make it handly for me: I see this game as an Age of Empires III, a game more modern, that could have been real great, vs Age of Empires II, a game more ancient, apparently with less potential, but BALANCED, PROFESIONAL, PLAYABLE in short. Guess which game was a failure, and which game still amazingly lives after all these years...

Dominations could have more potential for RTS lovers and this genre than Clash of Clans, which isnt either going through it best moment after going to be 4 years soon... But it isn't seizing that chance, I'm sorry to say, but the game is broken, and Nexon does not seem to be worried at all about these problems, I think because they do not play their game at all from a player's perspective, and are too centered on spending players, and have forgot casual players.

While spenders pay the bills, it is the casual base what makes these games triumph... And Nexon has broke the game for them a lot, and doesn't seem to be planning to do anything at all to solve it...

I'm out unless I see major changes and Nexon adressing these issues...

Hi Aitor, good points. Wish you'd come back though...warring with friends is still fun despite all the issues....

the only problem is that even at 2x the rate of resource gathering for caravans and farms, the amount of resources you get is still negligible compared to what you have to pay to upgrade at the higher levels

i've been saying this. when space age comes alone there is no way the average player will be able to have fun playing it. there will be 1 month upgrades for everything. very few will have the money to pay for crowns when the upgrade time is so high.

I know I have mentioned it before that this event was a stupid one to all of us that are at least EA and above. But come to think about it, not everything is about the old birds. They have to cater to the newbies too.

They have to come up with ways to attract and keep new players to the game. Inject new blood to keep the game alive for the rest of us.

Indirectly it will be beneficial to the rest of us as we get new prey to satisfy our hunger.

By excluding oil from this event, I am more convinced that they are trying to bridge the gap between the newbies and the higher up levels.
In some ways allowing them to try and 'catch up' to us at a faster rate as compared to if there wasn't this farm/caravan ×2 event thingy.

Newbies have no use for oil....only for IA and above.

Is it a smart move by Nexon? Maybe....only time will tell.

Great point,

We are loosing 200,000 oil from circulation every time someone upgrades their Factory.

We are loosing 210,000 oil from circulation every time someone upgrades their airstrip.

We are loosing 190,000 oil from circulation every time someone upgrades their Fort.

We are loosing 380,000 oil from circulation every time someone upgrades both their Bunkers.

These are immeasurable amounts of oil when you take into consideration all the Global Age players out there.

Give it another 3 or 4 weeks and there will have to be an OIL event. Otherwise we will run out, our oil wells can not support our upgrades at their current production rate. If our enemies do not have oil available then there will be an oil crisis.

This is spot on. Several other things in the game are now bent to get players up to speed quickly. Like for instance, the loot bonus in world wars. From gunpowder on down, the bonus is at least 300K each for every base, even the easiest ones.

Is it an oil crisis will be best to present world war II situation? Better to think that I need not to build the Tiger tanks because I am short of oil...

On the other hand, I just recently arrived in GA and am awash in oil that I can't get rid of. I'm not crowning any of my upgrades and it takes not one but two Oil Refinery upgrades before I can build any of the things you mention. Even so, the refinery was not one of my first upgrades when I hit GA; that honor went to Armory, Mill, and Library. When my Armory was offline, I couldn't dump oil into upgrading my generals, and now that it's done I'm upgrading my barracks troops. I'm raiding to get all my new walls and gates up to par, but even building heavy tanks and occasionally losing one hasn't put much of a dent in my surplus oil accumulation. When my library is finished I'll finally have a way to use up oil, but even then I may want to go for the research that costs food and gold first.

Bottom line: people who aren't speeding upgrades with crowns may well have a long period after hitting Global where they get way more oil than they can use.

Kind of appropriate for global age, as ,to some degree, an oil crises did drive conflict leading to WW2, especially in the pacific theatre.....so to fix this we need oil rich islands or trade routes to fight over with our new NAVAL UNITS !!!

I like this...every age has something new.In IA we hit the food uselessness andnow we hit oil crisis...this game would be boring if you would play all the same tactic all over again :)
