What is an alliance for

i ask for reinforcements. people give them to u. right now alliances are just for chatting and donating units

Just to have a sense of belonging with buddies and get extra troops.

From what I have seen and heard, the Alliances give you these two features : Chat and troops
People can donate to you and you can donate to them, and along with that you can chat with them!
And if there will be an alliance war feature, of course you have to be in an alliance to get to war.
