Why is it important i have a strong army?

Having a strong army is crucial as it plays a key role in asserting dominance on your opponents. With an army that has no mechanism, your attacking power will easily topple no matter your army size. Anyway, lets get to the main focus shall we?

1. Heavy tank army

This is a favourite to most players since most of them are talking about it in this section of the dominations forums. Having a heavy tank army is great for plauers above industrial age to deal with tanky defenders.
What is it made of?
-Heavy tanks
-Fighters
-Machine gunners
-Bazookas
-Supply healers
Possible troops used
-Light tanks (Heavy cavalry)
-Attack helicopters
-Heavy infantry
-Saboteurs
Strengths
-Dispatches defenders with ease while destroying buildings effectively
-Defensive buildings with splash damage will be almost useless against the army
Weaknesses
-Anti tank gun can destroy heavy tanks and sniper towers can kill backups of the heavy tanks
-Traps such as landmines and missile silos can potentially damage land and air troops

2. Heavy infantry army

These armies are really rare to see nowadays because people find them as weak ants that can be crushed easily. However, they may not be as weak as you think. It takes a stronghold two blows to kill one heavy infantry, and they are usually spread out, so they are inflicted with less damage.
What is it made of?
-Heavy infantry
-Machine gunners
-Light tanks
Possible troops used
-Supply healers
-Wall sappers
Strengths
-Clear out buildings that are spread out with ease
-Anti-tank guns cannot stand a chance against the army
Weakness
-Vulnerable to splash damage defensive buildings

Of course, there are other armies you can try out to play against other players, such as a combination of saboteur and the tactic blitzkrieg. You just have to find one that suits your taste best and make you perform the best that you can be. If you got attacked and got defeated by it, you can watch replays to see how other people attack with their armies, then you can learn from them and apply the skills to your own to improve your attacking potential.

My army makeup:

Iron and Classical Age: French heavy cavalry with 6 or more infantry.

Medieval, Gunpowder, and Enlightenment Age: British with 20 or so archers and the rest twice as many ballista as healing carts.

Industrial: Roman Heavy Tanks with one commando or 10 infantry.

I’m playing HT army above Industrial also, but I see great success with popular variants:

Bazooka + Assault Rally
Commando + Assault Rally + Bombers

cakeden, interesting post.

I used to go with HT, some light tanks, supply and sab, but following to the assault and zooka boosting I moved to elite zookas. I'm currently upgrading to RPG. They are great, but I currently suffer the fact that they mostly do whatever they want! I'm unable to keep the troops togheter. In some ways it is good that they spread, you can hit multiple buildings a time, but at the same time you can't use tactics on the whole army. I think that the problem is that tanks go for defensive buildings and rpg go for everything. I don't think that this is the best army config, probably rpg needs to go with heavy.

Any idea?

This thread is missing a critical piece of information: War versus Multiplayer. The two are completely different and must be differentiated.

In either case, Supply Trucks (healing carts) and Tanks (heavy cavalry) are both useless. As is the Demolition war tactic.

Also when using HT, use all 5-6 HT; don't mix 5 or so different troops. Or when using Commandos then use 10-12 of them and the rest Bazookas; no other troops.

For Multiplayer, the primary goal is to not lose troops/planes. Do this and the rest will take care of itself. This is why HT is so great; they can all stay alive if attacking moderately carefully. This is also why Transport work exceptionally well (one of the reasons; they are truly awesome in multiplayer). Managing troop loss in multiplayer is a completely different mindset than in war where most troops go to die.

I always thought that tanks served a useful purpose. In that they took the heavy hits aimed at the rest of your army.

20 archers are not enough. Yiu need a minimum of 40 archers.
