They wanted to give us a reason to actually upgrade it, because speed ups aren't worth it as designed since they're a worse deal than crowns.

I use to hang low in medals (400-800) to help with diamonds and NTG's and 5 star raiding. I went up to Gold League (1400+) hoping for decent speedups but the league boat seems to bring the same crappy rewards as before. If you have to buy speed ups I really don't see the point. I also don't see the point of higher medals, hardly even getting any decent troop cards.
