My 2 cents....
So far in our World Wars (EA & IA Bases), Heavy Gatlings have defended more of our bases (only 2 or 3 stars) then when we put Artillery in (they 5 starred em). We win way more Wars then we loose.

I tested Gatlings for my resource defense before that and alot of time I keep 1 or 2 Gatlings after the battle to defend the next attack. Although I have an Intimidating Home Base that gets scouted way more then attacked, Gatlings seem to work. I cant wait for War Replays any longer, sigh.

I get that Gats have their purpose as a troop defence in wars. They slow the attackers down an great against footies and horsies. They also can disguise themselves as other footies or rifles coming out of the TC.

But considering the long run, gats are not worth the time and rss upgrading just for defence. The arts and later howies are vital in both defence and attack. I used to carry and upgrade Gats in EA but stop after not seeing much potential in this particular unit as compared to others in the long run.

But if it is the cause of your alliance winning war good for you Aurafaux.

Until we get Replays for Wars, I cant be 100% sure its the actual reason.

No one is arguing the validity or strength of a howitzer in a TC. But second to this the evidence is clear that Gatlins are best for eating troops, especially in conjunction with Howitzers

and what for the buggy french 36?? we put 4 howitzers ussually. b.t.w mortar, or gatling does not have the range to whipe out shooters without entering their fire zone on defence, so for defensive reasons they are not so usefull. as for me, you can put 8 howitzers in a tc anyways, i am ussing 1-2 sabotages for a tc and few defensive buldings around (ussually they put thoose huge mortars or castle!! next to tc, so it is even better), so there is no difference what you will donate on that tc. i do not see them anyways. ))
