Since the last update it looks like the speed-up requests are causing the problems during game play. I did contact CS via the game. When speed-up requests are answered by an alliance member a spinning circle appears over the relevant upgrade AND in the center of the screen which stops the game. I'm on an Android tablet. Anyone else noticed this?

I'm still seeing the Bug with all my alliance requests finished. but both the library and tower I had used alliance speedups on previously have the spinning circles on them when the game crashes. Will speed them up so they are finished and see if that fixes it.
Update: that seems to have mostly fixed it. Now none of my active upgrades have received alliance speedups, I was able to get through a dozen or so battles before it crashed again. So. Not perfect, but much, much better.
Still not risking mercenary's.
