I understand you want to keep progress slow when a new age is released but I think players are quitting because they're finding the upgrade times too long and they don't believe they'll ever catch up, even when using crowns to speed up progress from time to time. I'm in Global Age and advancing to the Atomic Age is many months away and then I'm still really behind a lot of players. Surely it's beneficial to reduce the upgrade times (and possible cost a little) in older ages once a new age is released? We want as many people to be in later ages and currently I wonder how many players there will be by the time Space Age is released. Will it even be playable or will there be a shortage of resources and players? Players will still use crowns so I don't actually think you'll be worse off financially.

Also, a few other suggestions:
  • Japanese nation buff - 10% boost to walls and gate HP, since it's a nation that concentrates on defence
  • A blessing to protect oil - A dummy oil refinery so that players don't know which to hit with their raiders (a big problem at the moment is raiders and dems)
  • More walls in AA - I'm not there yet but considering there's an extra market and mill it would help to have more than just 10 pieces and 2 gates extra

I agree. By definition, it's harder to get resources in later ages so either the attacking ability has to improve greatly (and we know it won't) or we should have smaller increases in time & cost, each time we upgrade.
My 2nd account is Gunpowder and I can fill my markets/mills in under 30 mins. My 1st account is Industrial, It takes a few hours to get rss for an upgrade, I just log in a few times a week to upgrade and then log off for days. It's not fun.

I'm OK with grinding for resources, but it's the upgrade times that's killing off the community. Today the 5th veteran member of my group in the last 2 months is quitting because of the stupidly long upgrade times in Global onwards, and it's only going to get even worse.

Won't it be relatively clear which one is the dummy and which is the real refinery? If you put the dummy within your walls, and the real refinery outside of them or in a disadvantageous position, the enemy's raiders might still be able to hit both of them.

In terms of progression, I find the increasing forest clearing time to be one issue which needs to be revisited. It takes around 20 days for many Enlightenment Age removals, that's ridiculous and I can only imagine how cumbersome it is to lock up three workers for what must be close to a month later in the game.

Here I am thinking that my one-week Alliance Gate upgrade for EA is long. I'd say I wouldn't mind upgrade costs later on being heavily shaved, so that I don't have to do that for every building.

I'm thinking that we would protect the dummy oil refinery too whilst saving for a large amount of oil, so no one would actually know which is which. The blessings are the same size so in theory we just place the blessing behind walls and in battles it will look like an oil refinery.

Yes, forest clearing times definitely need reducing. It's currently a ridiculous amount of time to wait.
