I am a relative newbie (EA with 800 medals). It seems like the museum is a resource drain and is not very cost effective. Then again, I am new so it is prolly operator error.

ANY suggestions on how to best utilize the museum would be GREATLY appreciated
thanks in advance

Having only gotten the museum in CW (Or was it AA?) I concentrated on units/tactics l use on a regular basis. I think that would be a good place to start.

I think you should focus on your main activities. Museum is for those who are bored and have more free time to mess with it 😆
I once had 42k fragments, collected them until I could spend 1 hour of crafting and collecting artifacts 😆
Then I forgot about that thing again. Hoarding fragments again, so I could craft more later.

One thing that kinda distresses me, STORAGE! 😭 Why 20?! We are now given war hall, and still with 20 capacity for both halls? Please...

I disagree and feel it’s important at all stages of the game. I’m a CW lvl240 player but much of my ability came from maxing out the museum when it arrived. I was fortunate to receive many resource boosting items which has helped me to expand / upgrade quickly. I believe I have 70% bonus on all resources looted on attacks. I’ll snipe attack and get north of 800K gold and food on most attacks.

I'm pretty sure grooveboy will disagree with you Pungo cause he wanted the museum to be destroyed 😆

Admit it everyone, once you get the fun (and stress) in museum you will waste a lot of time on it 😏 and get addicted as well.

You can’t get many resource looting artifacts nowadays, so this option is not for beginners.

I would say: don’t upgrade artifacts until atomic or CWA age, but don’t forget to collect fragments and store blueprints and supplies. You will definitely need museum at the higher age to boost the troops that you don’t have access to yet (for example, strike fighters).

I like the museum and my early artifacts have definitely helped me to upgrade more quickly. I've been seeing All Resources artifacts less often, but I did get a first-tier starting 11% one yesterday that I sold off, so they are still out there.

I think the important thing to know about the artifacts is what to look for. Initially, I thought getting an artifact that had both tiers 1 and 2 unlocked was good. That's rarely the case. Instead, you need to look at the starting percentages on every tier. The highest you can get on a regular artifact is 11% starting on every tier. The highest on a war artifact is 6% starting on every tier. Knowing this, you'll be able to quickly look at the starting percentages to evaluatel whether or not it's worth keeping. There are a few exceptions, though.

I have a few artifacts that I use temporarily and I don't expect to unlock higher tiers. Some good temporary use benefits are: Vault Capacity, Vault Interest, and discounted costs like Forest Expansion Cost Refund or Library Tech Gold/Food Cost. You want to really look for good starting percentages in the first two tiers, since you'll be swapping them in and out only when you need them, so the later tiers are much less important. For example, before you collect from you vault, load artifacts that increase the vault interest. Then before you put the resources back into the vault, load artifacts that increase the vault capacity. Similarly, before you spend resources to research something or to clear away a forest square, load artifacts that reduce the cost. And if you get attacked regularly, you may want to load artifacts the increase the refund you get when someone raids you instead of the more offensive-minded artifacts you'll want for when you go attacking.

You can also increase the capacity of your museum from within the museum to hold more artifacts. This was always pretty helpful, but now with both raid and war artifacts, it's pretty much required in order to hold everything you're going to need. Avoid building one artifact at a time, but instead build 5 whenever you have enough fragments. How much you upgrade the tiers after that is really up to you, but IMO it's worth upgrading every tier of an artifact you're using to at least level 2 since the first upgrade cost is so small (40 blue scrolls).

And what did you do before the museum came along? Did you learn how to play before it or did you just buy your way to the top?
Younger players should learn how to play without relying on the museum. The museum should offer a nice bonus as you progress, not be the reason you progress. Ultimately players should rely on their skill to progress the museum, not the other way around. If you're lucky enough to get a 70% loot bonus then you can get by without skill, but not everyone is that lucky.
Dont give people ridiculous advice.

I've held on to a few Pottery Artifacts that I use when I cycle out my Vault: one to Increase Interest when I collect Oil, and one to Increase Vault Capacity when depositing. Over time, I've noticed it's a nice little bump to something I was doing anyhow.

I also do that TinSoldier and in addition I keep 2 artifacts that have -12% in OIL for Library research and use whenever I start reading a book that requires oil.
VERY handy cause all the books I have left unread require oil!!! lol

I get almost 4K extra when I do this.

The museum is making it too easy for people to get additional resources from attacking. I wonder if Nexon is aware of this?
It could eat into their end-of-year earnings and could affect Kim Jung-Ju's 'bottom line' !

My wife made 5,5 million resources from one attack recently, don’t ruin this interest, please - I wouldn’t be able to play without her)

I used to do that, before the war museum meant that I now need 20 spots in the museum just to hold the artifacts on display. Now I have to think of every stored item as costing 50 crowns - 250 crowns for 5 extra storage. Not really worth it. You needed to upgrade the storage when the war museum was added.

5.5million? Sorry but I'll need proof.
It's cases like this that make the game a joke. Good for your wife, not so good for others who have to rely on their own skill and minimal help.

My 2 cents. I don’t like the museum for two reasons. 1) it is tilted toward pay to win players who can buy legendary artifacts and crown re-roll benefits until they max out, and 2) because the stats are hidden. In short it is a cancer to the game much like troop tactics.

However, choosing to not participate normally with the museum (meaning without buying your way through) puts you at a great disadvantage to those that do. I would recommend to keep tabs on it and sort through the chaff for boosts you like on a regular basis. Personally, I was initially after resources and chose and upgraded artifacts of that type. Now I’ve sold all of those and switched entirely to battle and defense buffs.

I’ll typically save up 10-20K of fragments before grudgingly sitting down for what seems like an eternity to craft and dispose of 99% useless artifacts. Factoring in the museum storage crisis, it’s a truly awful experience. And each time you sell them you get more fragments! Recently I left an alliance, didn’t realize this caused my war artifacts to deactivate, and then sold some of them by mistake because the “Active” label is what I used to tell which ones to keep. Thanks, Nexon.

If we must have the museum, please make it more user friendly.

And what is going on with museum supplies? Where are they? Oh, yeah they’re in the pay to win multi tier chests where they can rot as far as I’m concerned. I used to be able to get them from the dock, but I read that by upgrading my dock it’s greatly reduced supply yield. Yay!
