is troops in baracks defending?

Hi, New to the game and i have a question. During an attack on my village does my troops in the barracks defending?

Depends on which age you are in.

Bronze age: keep it central,

Iron age: you get 2 so you can keep it outside to cover attackers trying to rush your catapult

I have no idea what hassle is on about. The answer is no they do not defend.

he's referring to the garrison, not the camps that Kman is talking about.

It's like american football, an offensive team and defensive team. Your army in the barracks are offensive only, stable and garrisons are defensive only.
