General’s rebalance:
The purpose of these changes is making nations more unique giving them unique generals. Some of the proposed generals are already in game, so BHG should be creative when it comes to compensate already leveled up generals (free instant level-ups for lost generals..., NOT crowns).
In my view, there are too many generals people don't use because they are too similar. General’s main purpose should not be an HP bunch with a bonus against other generals, instead they should function as a general, inspiring nearby units. This inspiring ability could be the same for every general (like an aura) but it would be so nice if every general had a unique ability. We know it’s possible because there are many troop tactic’s generals with unique abilities, aside from Sun Tzu, Hannibal, Petra or Zhukov.
I would suggest a unique general for each nation, and depending on the nation, you will have access to him sooner or later.
My proposal:
- Alexander: available for Greeks in medieval age, melee range. Unique ability: he has an aura that reduce the damage received of nearby allied troops by 20%.
- Julius Caesar: available for Romans in medieval age, melee range. Unique ability: he has an aura that increases the damage and reduces the damage received of nearby allied troops by 10%.
- Guan Yu: available for Chinese in medieval age, melee range. Unique ability: damages all enemies in front of him and causes supression.
- Nobunaga: available for Japanese in gunpowder age, melee range. Unique ability: summons 3 shinobi on offence/3 oni ninja or sword saints on defense that fight by his side (1 time for battle).
- Admiral Yi: available for Koreans in gunpowder age, melee range. Unique ability: he is always accompanied by a turtle ship which sits at the docks/shipyard and fires at anything the general attacks. The ship has no range limit and have a wide splash damage effective against enemy troops (attack speed 7s).
- Napoleon: available for French in enlightenment age, 5 range. Unique ability: summons 2 artillery and 5 voltigeur that fight by his side (1 time for battle).
- Admiral Nelson: available for British in enlightenment age, 5 range. Unique ability: he is accompanied by a warship which sits at the docks/shipyard and fires random buildings around the general. The ship has no range limit and have a small splash damage effective against enemy buildings (attack speed 10s).
- Erwin Rommel: available for Germans in industrial age, 3 range. Unique ability: he has an aura that increases the attack speed of nearby allied troops by 15%.
Note:
A nation change would change your unique general with the same level you had the other. It would be nice if all these generals were always on horse whatever level they are, including Cleopatra an Joan of Arc.
The other existing generals should be unchanged and available for all nations in their own ages. Another option could be changing Cleopatra and Joan of Arc for two of this new generals.
