Friendly Challenges have been disabled due to bug causing base layouts to load incorrectly for some players. While these changes are not permanent, we need to take this system down for investigation. We will keep you posted on when it's coming back!

thanks for letting us know.
do you have a comment if this disabling will allow us to safely apply the patch without injury to our bases? you have stated that it's just a layout dilemna and we can 'repair' our bases with the editor (great!), but i see contrary claims which give me pause. perhaps you can clarify with authority when you are informed with more details.

despite the trolling about challenges, our team had accustomed ourselves to the friendly challenge system without ww bases; we just edited on 'town' to test and copied them over to ww; it was ok. respectfully, you didn't need to ship the fix without sufficient testing; we were quite happy with it; i kind of already miss it.

Sorry, but your company's QA process is terrible. I understand a big bug can sometimes make it through testing, as even the best game companies have this happen. But Dominations has huge, game-breaking bugs seemingly all the time. Players do not appreciate losing their progress, resources, or time due to consistently poor QA. Many times, players permanently lose tactics, resources, or progress. I hope plans are in place to reduce the frequency of such bugs of large magnitude.

Yeah this has to be one of the buggiest games I ever played, and definitely the most buggy mobile game. Makes me wonder if they have QA at all (though they said they do). Even the hotfix that is specifically there to fix bugs is introducing more bugs than it fixes.

QA and bug testing is an undervalued talent in almost all organizations; it's treated as an afterthought when it should be a skill every developer has. all code should have unit tests associated with it, right up to the architecture level. still, it's understandable when an organization fails at this because they don't have 'elegant process engineering' as a fundamental value. it's better to critically inform than just defecate on them.

DomiNationsVigiles Any idea when we can expect to have our bases back to normal? I hope a lot of compensation will be involved with a full restore of our villages. This recent blunder is unacceptable and should be more than embrassing for your inept programmers.
Also, instead concentrating efforts on restoring friendly challenges, all efforts should be put into restoring villages!!

on our team, the 'broken base' problem was resolved with a game re-installation and re-load of the base from 'game center'.
i still think it's better to decline the update for the nonce though.

obsidi, you're downplaying it a bit too much.
I work for a big telecom organisation and we deploy a lot of stuff. Off course sometimes something goes wrong, but every time it does we try and take learning from it and prevent it from happening next time.
(Also I disagree with how QA should be a skill every developer has. QA is not something you can "just leave to the engineer", you need to embed it in a process, apply e.g. a 4 eye principle, a staged process that ensures testing is done, validations are in place before something is deployed. But with that we go off topic)

Nexon is on a whole different level. Each and every update or patch (and that is no exaggeration) I have seen (and I have been playing for 2 years now) has contained at least 1 bug, which becomes apparent by the entire player base right after deployment.

Quovatis observation is correct: Nexon has bugs all the time.
I'm not so sure if his observation about the quality of the QA process is accurate though, because that would imply a QA process even exists at Nexon. And I begin to doubt if they even do.

The garbled base bug is easily fixed by going into the base editor and selecting the correct layout. The problem is the hotfix automatically selected and applied an old, invalid layout. Just change it back and you'll be fine.
