i just started playing a few weeks ago. Trying to wrap my head around this game.

Do you attack to get enough resources for the upgrades you want to do? Is that the jest of this game?

Im level38 @300 medals . So far I haven’t needed to attack other players for upgrades but have done it.

Yes, and then you join an alliance so you can war.

Once you have Alliance Gate you'll be able to join alliance of your choosing and may I suggest joining an established alliance that use external communication app (LINE or Discord) those alliances will help you grow faster and teach you more in depth different strategies on not just what to upgrade but what to do and how best to progress in this game.

Welcome to Domi Forums The point is to make stuff go Boom and steal people's food/gold. Also to complain when other people have more stuff/money than you. Very similar to real life.

A few tips, max out your defenses in each age (including your walls) through Industrial. Then rush to Atomic ASAP for better offensive troops so you can crush "rushed Global" bases that never upgraded defense earlier. You want to avoid being in Global age without having maxed out towers/catapults/walls/ballista towers because lv300 bases in Cold War can attack Global. Ignore upgrading farms, caravans, and library upgrades that don't directly help offense/defense. And don't waste your valuable workers on upgrading university until you get to Atomic age.

Lol, wait till you learn about the rebalance injustice and the fact that developers turned this game into a pay-to-win !!!! Also the fact that this game dynamics are changed everytime you blink an eye. I won't even mention the numerous problems that never get fixed !!!
