It seems the devs are working hard trying to improve this game and I want to give you my opinion.
This is an amazing game which had a few key issues that make it different:
1. The first one is the nation choice. When I started playing this game I took my time to decide which one should I took and its advantages on the long run. This applies to wonders too.
What I mean is the uniqueness of nations is gone, buildings look the same since industrial age and even the last ages' unique troops look like the regular ones.
I think this should be adressed as well as an update on nations' perks. I would love to see some nation perks on different buildings and units including factory and airstrip ones, not just the "unique unit". Another idea could be a unique skill for the general of its nation (Alexander for greeks, Napoleon for the french...) and maybe a couple of new nations.
2. The second one is the ages progression. On early stages of the game I was forced to change my attacking strategies every time I upgrade to a new age due to a new defensive structure and new troop options. But it's not the case since atomic (I'm space). I'm currently using mortar+artillery+transports (+mongols) and I feel I could use it forever and beat anyone.
I mean, this could be fixed making some troops' upgrade bigger in some ages, like the transition from artillery to howitzer in industrial age.
3. The third is world wars. This is the competition side of the game and it's so funny, but I feel they could be improved just using the world map.
A good way to improve it could be adding a new alliance campaing mode which lasts a bit more (2 days?) where players have to beat close enemy cities (on the campaing war map) to conquer the territory and get some bonus for the next attack. Or fail an attack and have to wait 12h to retrain lost troops to attack again... Well, the idea is to make war map relevant.
4. And finally, I think this game needs to reach to more people to get new players using commercials, youtubers, etc.
