If your alliance is war oriented I don't think it really matters, as long as you are lead by good co-leaders.
All they have to do is starting wars.
If you have the guts to start over, make a new alliance.

We had to ditch one of our alliances because CS said there was no ability fix. In our case the leader went inactive and didn’t pass the reigns.

I solved the problem. I managed to find a way to talk to Minchio and everything was restored. Three years of history are saved. I'm worse than one 007.
