Which Generals defend in War?

I know the highest level general is supposed to defend, but I have two questions about Generals in war:

1) If you have the research done, will the top two generals always defend in war, or do you have to have 2 active generals before the war starts?

2) If you have 3 generals of the same level, which one(s) defends?

Whichever ones you have activated will defend, whether it be one or two of them. For example, if you have Napoleon and Cleo activated then they will both defend when attacked...if triggered of course.

You have to have them activated before you get attacked.

You can see this by viewing the replays of your defensive battles...

The CS Faq says best general (or best 2 generals with research) will automatically be on defense in war base. It doesn't say what happens if you have 3 of the same level. There is no need to activate them and it doesn't sound like cool down applies.

You mean war as in World War? Sorry if so. I mistakenly presumed you meant standard attacks. Doh!

I must admit I did think it was far too simple a question but thought I'd answer anyway!

the game will Automatically choose the high level generals for defending , doesn't matter which one , only high levels will stand on the fort

I have 3 generals at the same level. The Japanese is the chosen one. I don't know why...

For me Choose by Damage Done , So Mc arthur(21lvl) is in the first priority
