Village and army colour

Why are my army and my village flags blue?! I chose Romans, surely they should be Red? The legions look red in the picture when I train them at barracks? Is everyone's village blue? (Flags on buildings and army)

Yes everybody has a blue army. When you are attacking somebody or are being attacked by somebody the enemy will show up as red though.

Blue is the color they use to designate "friendly", Red is the color they use to designate "enemy" or "foe". What I think is odd is that sometimes my flags and army highlight colors are white. I didn't surrender.
