Ruins don't give crowns

I had these ruins uncleared to save my crowns and build up a reserve. With the new features in the update, I thought, "Let's make those crowns count."
To my surprise, not only do they not give crowns, but the amount of resources they offer for clearing them is appalling.
No, I don't want resources. I want crowns, like it always was in the game. I don't recall seeing an update note saying "the ruins will no longer give crowns."
I spoke with the CS team, but they haven't given me a solution.
