Need some help pls - Gunpowder age, lvl 74 - not enough gold /food to keep upgrading

hi all

so have been playing the game for about 5-6 weeks and Im in gunpowder age, lvl 74 with 876 medals.

I am at a stage where everything is 1.5M + to upgrade and I am struggling with that as I dont have enough gold or food all the time. I have 6 x lvl 10 farms lvl 10 camels but what they generate in 24hrs is nothing compared to upgrade costs. I cant even build redoubts or upgrade walls as they are all so expensive.

Can someone tell me what is the fastest way to build up those ? I also find that the moment I get over 1M of something, I get 1-2 looters overnight when Im asleep and 4-500k is gone.

I read that some ppl go on looting ? I have 3 x lvl 6 barracks so I can produce 30 odd heavy cavalry riders which I think are best for looting farms etc. Is that the way to go ?

Hi Omarko,

The best way to get more resources is to go on looting sprees. Attack, retrain troops, attack. You can try a raider army. I have personally never used those. I use a balanced army and it helps me clear the base better. You can try it out and see what works best for you. What's your base design like? Also, do you participate in wars? They are the best source of loot in lower ages. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions

Best source of loot at gunpowder age is without a doubt in battles! Alliances help you gain resources as well through wars but you can only war every couple of days. You can battle as fast as you can build troops. So 30 heavy calvary are cheap and fast to build and will outrun mortars and opponent defenses while targeting resources. A balanced army like Empire speaks of takes a long time to build but will indeed get you the base cleared. But who cares? You grow through resources not clearing bases.

Hi Omarko. The trick is to raid with only infantry and drop the minimum you can on each base strategically. You will not get all the loot (town centre loot, inside wall loot etc) but you will easilty get a minimum of 100k food and gold upto about 300k per run. It works very well for me. If you are interested, I can provide a small video to illustrate it. Essentially, it works at any level, and I still use it at EA level!

I have just upgraded to the Gunpowder Age and use the method that MountainKing has stated. I can usually only take bases that have upgraded to quickly or have a poor defensive base at the Gunpowder level. If I need to get my 15 stars, those are the bases I will attack with a strong offense. I use MountainKings advice when I need to steel food or gold to get my upgrades started. It is time consuming because of the number of attacks and rebuilding of your troops, but once your offense gets stronger raids will be a little easier along with normal offensive attacks.

I often use 3 raiders when I am going for loot, no more. They are useful to drop off away from where your main attack is taking place and pick up the caravan gold pile or an odd farm. But I don't find them particularly useful in mass.

Best way to get gold and food is to constantly attack. Practice attacking with and without tactics and mercenaries. Without tactics and mercenaries is cheap. Even if you fail to destroy all of their defenses you can generally attack again in about 20-30 minutes depending on what style you like to attack with. Using Tactics you can generally clear all of an opponents defenses, but it is slower to reload. I'm in Gunpowder Age as well and I like to use 3 or 4 tactics on one EA with a high gold/food payout. Then just attack over and over without tactics on other Gunpowder age and easy EA bases for gold/food. A full army without tactics only costs around 50K food which is amazingly easy to raid every time, even if you screw up.

Are yu in an alliance? Winning wars and collecting loot up in your command centre is a good tactic as well at your age, also putting some money in the vault as well...
